Getting Started in Celestial Navigation
About Course
The Celestial Navigation Series is a group of courses designed to enhance understanding of the art of celestial navigation, from basic to advanced concepts.
Each lesson features notes and links to follow up your learning. In most films, actual example problems are computed. This is a practical “how-to” series.
The designed audience is threefold:
1. Professional Coast Guard and merchant mariners who desire to increase their knowledge of navigation (or are mandated to do so).
2. The general sailing community.
3. Anyone interested in learning about the art and science of celestial navigation.
There are three individual sections:
1. Getting Started in Celestial Navigation. (The Marine Sextant, The Noon Site for Latitude, Precision, The Pole Star).
2. Going Further in Celestial Navigation. (Lighthouses in the Sky, The Sunline, The Solar Running Fix, A Day With The Sun).
3. Advanced Concepts in Celestial Navigation.
